Casio Pro Trek PRW-B1000B-2 Featured Fireproof Strap, Bluetooth, and Tough Solar

The Casio Pro Trek PRW-B1000B-2 is a high-performance timepiece designed for the modern adventurer who demands both technical precision and environmental responsibility. Part of the Pro Trek "Climber Line," this model seamlessly blends Casio’s advanced Triple Sensor technology with a design language deeply rooted in the natural world.

Inspiration and Design

The design of PRW-B1000B-2 is inspired by the majestic landscape of Yosemite National Park. Specifically, the watch takes visual cues from the park’s iconic vertical rock formations. The concept revolves around "The Joy of the Great Outdoors," aiming to provide a reliable tool for high-altitude climbing and trekking while utilizing materials that minimize environmental impact.

The most striking design element of the watch is the square stainless steel bezel, which features a sharp, multi-sided structure and corner slits meant to represent the weathered cracks and sheer faces of Yosemite’s granite walls. This rugged aesthetic continues onto the dial, where a multilayered structure creates a sophisticated sense of depth finished in a blue-gray color.

The texture is specifically engineered for high visibility, utilizing large watch hands and raised three-dimensional indexes to ensure the time is easy to read at a glance. Adding to its unique character, a small indicator hand at the 9 o’clock position is shaped like a climbing piton as a nod to the evolution of climbing gear from the 1970s. Furthermore, the watch reflects a commitment to sustainability with a center case crafted from flame-retardant bio-based resin, which is certified UL94 V-0 to ensure the timepiece can withstand stray sparks from a campfire.

Technical Specifications

Despite its rugged exterior, the PRW-B1000B-2 maintains a profile perfectly suited for active movement with a case diameter of 45.8 mm, a length of 50.8 mm, and a thickness of 14.9 mm. Weighing in at approximately 75 grams, the watch feels light on the wrist without sacrificing durability.

The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, featuring an anti-reflective coating that ensures crystal-clear readability even in harsh, direct sunlight. Additionally, with a water resistance rating of 10 bar (100 meters), this timepiece is well-equipped for trekking through heavy rain or safely crossing mountain streams.

Movement and Features

The watch is powered by Casio’s Tough Solar movement, which converts even weak light into energy. It is equipped with Multi Band 6 radio-controlled timekeeping and Smartphone Link via Bluetooth, allowing for automatic time adjustment and altitude correction via a dedicated app. The core of its functionality lies in the Triple Sensor (Version 3), which provides essential data through a digital compass that utilizes the second hand to point North and features a "Location Indicator" to help you get back to a saved waypoint.

Additionally, the system includes an altimeter and barometer to track altitude changes and monitor weather trends. Completing the suite is a thermometer that accurately measures ambient temperatures, remaining fully functional in environments ranging from -10°C to 60°C. The watch is also featured
basic functions, such as stopwatch, world time, timer, alarm, 12/24-hour time format,  hourly signal, dual LED backlight, calendar, battery charge indicator, and Hands Shift function

Fireproof Strap

The Casio Pro Trek PRW-B1000B-2 strap is made of CORDURA® re/cor™. This fabric is lightweight, highly durable, and made from recycled waste. Like the case, the band is treated to be flame-retardant, protecting the wearer from stray embers during outdoor cooking or camping. The Casio Pro Trek PRW-B1000B-2 is priced at $560 and stands as a tribute to the vertical world of Yosemite, offering a specialized set of tools for those who find their home on the side of a mountain.
